In 2016, the Associated Press (AP) published an investigative report questioning the effectiveness of flossing, a practice long recommended by dental professionals and health authorities. The AP’s investigation analyzed 25 studies on flossing, finding that the evidence supporting its benefits was “weak” and “very unreliable.” Many of these studies were criticized for small sample sizes, short durations, and potential biases, often funded by the flossing industry itself. Dr. Durgam refuted these claims and discussed the importance of daily flossing.
